Funfetti Cookies

funfetti cookies 06

When I was a kid, I didn’t really like sprinkles on my cakes. I just thought that the texture was weird and it didn’t taste like anything, so what’s the point? I didn’t care for how it made cake more appealing or how festive they can be.

Now that I’m older, I can appreciate the use of sprinkles, even embrace it. That’s why I decided to try these funfetti cookies. They can really brighten a person’s day. These days, it’s all about making someone’s day just a little bit better from the life problems that we all have.

Bake at 350 Sugar Cookies

There’s something about holidays that just scream sugar cookies. Just choose a shape and you’ve become very festive. My mom gave me a heart cookie cutter and that started my sugar cookie making. I first made these and I’ve been wanting to improve my cookie-cutting and icing skills.

I feel like you need to have the right tools in order to make good sugar cookies.

The Chewy Revisited

the chewy revisited 04

A couple years ago, I decided to try and make Alton Brown’s version of the classic Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie and decided that this is my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe (as you might have seen here). The only thing I changed was the size of the cookie. I didn’t have the same size scooper as Alton Brown used in the recipe, so I just used the one I had on hand.

Cut-out sugar cookies are something that I want to master. They’re just so versatile and you can make them for any occasion with just a good sugar cookie recipe, some cookie cutters, and royal icing. When I saw these cookies on Not Martha’s website a few weeks back, I knew I had to try these. Sure, it might be way out of my league (I’ve only made cut-out sugar cookies twice in the past), but I knew I wanted to try them in the near future. I immediately sent the link to D- thinking he’d be amused by the cookie, and he told me that his workplace is actually holding a bake-off for their Halloween party. We totally were going to make this for the bake-off.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Dream Cookies

I have been a big fan of freezing foods to save for later for some time now, but I only recently started to put the freezer to good use. I’ve been exploring other parts of life with D-, that I don’t always have the time to bake cookies from scratch (there’s just no other way to do it!). Who knew Diablo III can be so much fun? 🙂 Of course you gotta balance the gaming out with some exercise. I have a new found joy for jogging outdoors. You might run the same path every time, but there are always different things to look at in the park to keep things interesting.
